Well, its that time of year again. That's right, it's time to get your flu shots. I know it's never fun to get a shot, but the flu virus is responsible for over 30,000 deaths a year in the US alone! Getting your flu shot is a quick and easy way to reduce your risk of getting the flu.
We've all heard the excuses about why people don't get their shots; "You can catch the flu by getting a flu shot," or "I got a shot last year but I still got the flu." While it is possible to get cold-like symptoms after getting your flu shot it is not possible to get the flu from the shot because the shot only contains inactivated virus. Like any vaccination the flu shot does not guarantee that you won't get the flu during the season. It will however, reduce the severity and duration of the flu if you were to still get the virus after getting the shot.
We gladly accept most all insurances as many have now begun covering the flu shot. Be sure and bring your insurance card with you when you come by.
Don't forget about the kids either. In fact, they are often at an increased risk of catching the flu due to the high exposure rates at school. If your child is between the ages of 4 and 12 and gets their flu shot with us, they will also get an ice cream cone of their choice....FREE!!
